Biography

Derek is a gifted communicator, experienced entrepreneur and proven business coach.
Derek has advised business, government and private research agencies at national and international level.

From his early career his awards included a Rotary Foundation Fellowship, British Council Research Fellowship, Roche Research Foundation Award and a Visiting Professorship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA.

Derek created his first medical device business after completing his MBA at Strathclyde Graduate Business School. This was not an easy transition. Derek felt that his MBA did not really equip him for entrepreneurship - although great fun, it taught him hundreds of ways that businesses could fail. Becoming interested in the mindset of the entrepreneur and in personal development concepts was his natural response to a problem of how to eliminate hesitation and fear of failure.
Derek loves coaching interventions with companies that understand that massive impact can be created by enhancing individual awareness of mindset and expanding tools that people have to manage their own state. Derek is also a Master Business Practitioner of NLP - licensed by the Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
